I feel it is not a requirement for someone to have their Master's in Reiki to teach it. Naturally, when we are passionate about something we want to share it and many people know nothing of what Reiki is or what it does. So you must teach them, at least to a point of understanding.
Then what is a Reiki Master for?
A really good Reiki Master is like a Mentor, teaching you the Reiki as they learned it AND answering and guiding you with any questions after class has ended. Reiki has been tweaked throughout it's long history since Master Usui passing. A Reiki Master will teach you all that is needed to know for your particular level.
But any student of Reiki can do that, you might be thinking. Technically, yes, however, a student, unless taught Level 3 is only able to teach so much. There is more to Reiki then it's hand positions and Symbols.
With every lesson there is an attunement. The purpose of an attunement is to attune you to what you were just taught so that you may use it out in the world
An attunement is just a way of awakening something that is already inside you.
Each attunement is unique and special to the student.
Classes are done in levels so that you may enjoy your new self and discover what your attunement brought forth in you.
Level 1 is the most important class. It is the class where you will learn almost everything you need to know about Reiki
Level 2 is where you learn the Sacred Symbols of Reiki,the meanings behind them and how to use them.
Level 3 (Master) is the class where you learn how to pass the knowledge to the next generation of Reiki healers and the attunement process for each of the Levels.
